Stop Evaporation

Glossary

Advection

The horizontal transport of heat or dry air by wind — for example, warm dry air blowing off surrounding land onto a water body. It adds energy that radiation-only methods miss.

Strong advection can push evaporation above what net radiation alone would allow (the ‘oasis effect’). It is why radiation-based methods such as Priestley-Taylor under-predict on small, exposed water bodies.
